Your friends can deliver your Valentine's cards right inside R2's head!

Directions for making R2-D2 for Valentine's Day
You will need:
white trash can with dome lid
silver spray paint
black, blue, red permanent markers -- blunt tips
black permanent marker -- fine tip (like a Sharpie)
pictures of R2-D2
ruler
masking tape
pencil
optional -- clear spray paint

1. With a parent's help, spray paint the lid silver. You may need to do more than one coat. Do this in advance so that it has time to dry for at least a day.

2. Using your pictures of R2-D2 as a guide, draw the details of his body on the main part of the trash can with a pencil. Use the ruler and masking tape to help you make straight lines.

3. Color in the blue parts using your marker.

4. Trace over the other lines using the black marker.

5. Once the silver paint on the lid is dry, use your pictures of R2-D2 as a guide and draw the details of his head with a pencil. Use the ruler and masking tape to help you make straight lines.

6. Color in the blue, red, and black parts using your markers.

7. Trace over the other lines using the black marker.

8. Optional -- when finished, have a parent help you spray the entire project with clear finshing spray to help protect your work.
