Make Darth Box for Valentine's Day

Directions for making Darth Box for Valentine's Day
You will need:
shoebox
black paper (or black spray paint)
clip art
1/4-1/2 yard black fabric
stapler
strong tape
scissors
glue
2-3 pipe cleaners/chenille craft stems
optional: ability to sew or iron fuse edges of fabric

1. Take a shoe box and cut a hole on one end. This will be the opening so that friends can put Valentine's cards in your box.

2. Cover your box and the lid with black paper. Alternate idea: you can spray paint your shoe box black. Have a parent help you with the spray paint.

3. Get clip art of Darth Vader from http://www.starwarskids.com Look in the crafts section. Print out the Darth Vader mask and the buttons from his suit. This will work best if you can print on cardstock or heavy paper.

4. Take a piece of black material. You will need 1/4 to 1/2 of a yard, depending on how big your box is.

5. Cut the fabric to fit as Darth's cape. You can have a parent sew the sides so they won't fray, or have a parent use iron-on tape to achieve the same effect.

6. Arrange the cape evenly and so it flows down the back and on both sides.

7. Staple the cape to the top of the box, behind the opening.

8. Take two pipe cleaners/chenille craft stems and fold them in half.

9. Attach the pipe cleaners/chenille craft stems to the back of Darth's head with tape.

10. Attach the other ends inside the box by going through the hole you have cut. Tape them to the inside of the box.

Enjoy! May the Force be with you...
