Archaeology Dig at Jamestowne, Virginia
June 2009

Archaeologists hard at work at one of the dig spots.

At one of the dig spots

A graveyard that had been previously excavated. Each cross marks a grave.

Dumping dirt, maganing dirt all in the hopes of finding the next great artifact. The wooden system next to the lady in the hat was an automatic sifter.

Organizing and sharing some of the pieces that had already been excavated.

Managing the sifters with the water sprayers. The man in the red shirt was one of the head
archaeologists on the team.

Looking on the screen for artifacts. Some of the items that were found included nails, bits of
pottery, and bits of bone.

Taking a closer look on the screen.

Another one of the dig spots. A well was being excavated, and this was considered to be good because many objects are often found in wells.

Looking at some of the "treasures."
